About The Artwork

This is a one of a kind art piece drawn with hand, cross hatching in absolute freestyle to achieve contrast and lighting. On acid free Needle point paper with ballpoint pen. I worked on this piece with famous photographer Joan choumali who shot the reference to this piece. The tribal marks are historic for recognision from the fellow tribesmen. This is a woman who strives daily to ensure that her family and those around her enjoy her kindess and deep words of strength and encouragement. This art piece is entails the envision of our guardians and trying to bring to life the famous saying "what an elder sees sitting down, a child wouldn't" even if they climbed the tallest iroko tree" Our mothers are our guardians here as they brought us to life. In contemporary African times, our mothers have the foresight of what we may turn out to be in our lives based on the path we've chosen for ourselves right from birth and have the ability to guide us towards the right path and through her we have the blueprint.
