Drawing: Ink, Pastel on Paper.
Addressing the figure in a way that is both humorous and poetic, I seek a representation that addresses an intersection between abstract and figurative terminologies.
Characters are drawn from the art-historical canon, to clash with avatars and references to contemporary visual culture. These characters become allegories of poetic intention, while toying with both formalist elements of abstraction as well as notions of fragmentation, both physical and psychological.
Though an examination of gesture and language - processes of concealment and erasure inform a sense of ambiguity and play within the paintings.
