This painting is part of the animals series. I wanted to achieve both a sense of sunlight and atmosphere. The tup is both a muscular beast with a powerful presence, as well as a character. I chose to use pastels and Panpastel for this piece for their mark making properties and ability to create depth and layers within the saturated colours.
