A dream was the inspiration for this drawing: At a dark evening I had tied my horse to two ropes outside, and I thought it was safe to leave the horse like this all night. The horse stood obediently, trusting that his master would take good care of him. Somewhere in the dream I realized this wasn't actually safe, but I convinced myself it was okay. The seed of doubt remained, but I left the horse like this and woke up from my dream. The image of the horse in a fixed position, left in the dark, resigned to its fate for that night, despite the reality of insecurity, remained etched in my memory and became this drawing. In reality, I would never and never do this to a horse.

From an early age, partly thanks to the environment in which I grew up, I have been inspired and fascinated in the connections between humans and animals, the relationship between humans and themselves and people themselves. These relationships bring to the surface all kinds of experiences, sensations, thoughts and feelings that we humans, and perhaps animals too, can think about. We can let the thoughts and feelings in ourselves spin, ruminate, and let go; a collection of images, colours, smells, sounds, memories, associations, thoughts and sometimes 'a knowledge' that is beyond reason. Some things are deeply entrenched and may even be indelible. I find it downright fascinating how we humans function with our thinking, feeling, doing and acting. It raises many questions, which I cannot answer, but can explore by drawing. The drawings are a form of reality that emerges between the direct physical experience and the experience thereof. In my drawings I like to use pastel, charcoal, pencil, Siberian chalk and drawing pen. I also use the graphic techniques of etching, drypoint etching, lithography, siligraphy (anhydrous lithography), screen printing and occasional photography. In addition to drawings and graphics, I also make digital illustrations on commission.
