In this series, I am questioning the concept of truth, close to the concept of identity. The work, between the figurative and the abstraction, reminds us that truth is something we cannot define. The truth depends on ones perspective of their environment. My reflection is about how we take our believes as truth, and how we have to re-interrogate these believes, which are inherited, so as to engage with and explore who we are. Using my Maasai culture as an archival resource and a philosophy, to interrogate the place of tradition in the contemporary society.

Currently working from the Kobo Trust Studios in Nairobi, I am curious about the public spaces and the dynamics of human conduct, as there remains unanswered questions about actions and observable emotions associated with cultures, particular societies, as well as the human race as a whole. Using charcoal, pastel, graphite, ink, watercolour, and sometimes newsprint, my work represents these common spaces, using human figures and ideas on truth as I have observed and experienced, mostly speaking to issues of traditions and culture in the society.
