Badasar Calbiyik

Artist & Actor
Atelier Araca, Bremen

Born in Germany with Armenian roots, Badasar Calbiyik straddles the boundaries between worlds – as an actor, performer, and visual artist. After completing his training in Hamburg, he spent many years performing on renowned stages and in front of the camera in more than 70 film, television, and cinema productions, developing a keen sense of expression, atmosphere, and dramaturgy.

This experience now flows directly into his visual art: powerful reliefs, installations, and paintings made of colored concrete that combine emotionality with materiality. His works are painstakingly created by himself and bear an unmistakable signature – raw, intense, and yet full of poetry.

Calbiyik's visual language is colorful, vibrant, and resistant – but never pleasing. It demands attentive viewing, a deeper sense of feeling.

His art doesn't seek to please. It seeks to trigger something.

Since 2015, he has been running the Araca studio in the east of Bremen – a place where material, history and attitude come together.
