The Near and the Nigh is a cycle of light and darkness where urbanism, social strife and the end of the World serve to establish a connection between Mexico –its ancient past and recent history– and the urban transformation of London as a centre of power. A crossbreeding of different contexts and paradigms, The Near and the Nigh also addresses the issues of the glamorization of violence, the internationalization of underground culture, the transformation of the post-cinematic viewing style, and lastly, the dream of a utopian community in a post-capitalist World. Enhanced by a soundtrack made in collaboration with Mexican producer Siete Catorce (soundcloud.com/sietecatorce), the installation works as a sonic and visual landscape where moments of intense stimuli are followed by quietness and repose.
