I have focused on the production of textiles, in my artistic career. In particular, I have concentrated on preserving techniques for maintaining non-woven tapestries, which are characteristic for the former Czechoslovakia, where the machines for fixation of artworks were constructed. However, originally they were only used in industrial areas. The technique of non-woven tapestry provides me as an artist enough freedom for the expression of my artistic thoughts, ideas and visions. The so-called “painting with the wool” is very stimulating and in comparison with the classical technique of woven tapestry is not subject to some design that limits the possibilities of expression. I often enrich the non-woven tapestry with a variety of applications from silk, thread and interesting structured fabrics. Most recently, I have been experimenting with using photographs in my artworks. Characteristics of my work are an overlap of other types of arts and experimenting with materials. Incorporation of photographs into my tapestries and using established techniques in different contexts moves the creation of my artworks into the next levels. Furthermore, I use the technique of knitting where I replace traditional wool yarn with a thin copper wire and thus with such knitted fragments I enrich my artworks and add a plastic dimension. The creation of non-woven tapestry is always a great adventure because the final shape of the tapestry is not created before the finalization with the fixing machine. However, the most important part of the work remains the idea and the concept. The technique of non-woven tapestry and experimenting with the materials are only means for me in order to express my personal statement.
