Jules Vissers

About the Artist

Jules Vissers

Italy

In her Atelier Taftique in Florence, Italy, Jules (born in the Netherlands) creates unique textile artworks, characterized by their three-dimensionality and the application of various techniques, both traditional and innovative. She combines hand-tufting with embroidery, punch needle, felting, weaving, tatting and crochet. Her artworks are made with high-quality Italian yarns, using natural as well as recycled fibres, and are inspired by nature, art and architecture.
Jules graduated Cum Laude in Art Textiles in 2020, after which she founded her atelier, fulfilling a life-long dream to start an artistic career. In her work Jules tries to express movement - and thus life - through the interaction of colour, form and texture. The fragility of life is a recurring theme in her work. Fragility not intended as a negative aspect but as the magic of our and nature's existence, a core element that demands respect.
