MISTER is a London-based artist whose work integrates fine art training with extensive experience in education and pastoral care. His mixed-media practice explores themes of guardianship, cultural identity, often featuring strong female figures. He achieved significant recognition in 2020 by winning the Royal Arts Prize, which led to a major solo exhibition, "London Calling," at La Galleria Pall Mall, London in 2021. Artistic Style and Process: MISTER’s work is characterised by a "striking visual mixed media art form" that blends traditional and digital techniques. Initial Development: He begins his creative process in a sketchbook or on a laptop, using drawing, collage, and paint to develop imagery influenced by art history and storytelling. Digital Enhancement: His initial sketches are further layered with digital images from his travels and urban sources, a process that can take months to complete. Limited Collections: Each artwork exists within a limited edition of ten pieces. Bespoke Finishing: Every piece within an edition is unique due to hand-painted techniques and the application of gold leaf and diamond dust. Professional Background and Inspiration Teaching Career: Before pursuing art full-time in 2018, MISTER taught art in a successful London state school for over 30 years. He also ran international workshops in cities such as New York, Paris, Barcelona, and Los Angeles. Themes of Guardianship: His current focus on "guardianship" and promoting strength in others draws directly from his pastoral experience in education. Cultural Identity: His work reflects London as a "modern Babylon," focusing on diversity, inclusion, and creating a culture of harmony.
