I have always embraced this idea, that we are all artists and imagination experts as children, but as we grow up we lose that sense of wonder and creativity. In my art, and in my life, I strive to be playful and create the unexpected. I get lost in the process as my mind takes a road trip to another place. Late in the day, as I've been working in the studio, my fingers are sticky from glue and paint, my apron and clothes are covered in a sea of colors, and the studio is a beautiful mess, I step back and wonder, "What happened here today? Where did I go?" I make art to heal, I work with my physical body in order to satiate my mind, not unlike a good workout. When I push through the messiness, and the pain, is when I feel and see the magic. For me, making art is a personal journey.
