ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The inspiration of this work begins with Kendrick Lamar. His wisdom and melodies have inspired the core concept of this piece. In the last track on "To Pimp a Butterfly," Kendrick reads a poem and discusses his growth as a person. The last lines read, "Although the butterfly and caterpillar are completely different, they are one and the same." What's your perspective on that?" I would love for the viewer to explore within and finds what makes them grow. Use their life lessons to evolve. Through mindful thinking and creativity, anything can be achieved. I wanted to represent the "To Pimp a Butterfly" style and make it relevant. The background represents the lines and spots on a butterfly's wings. Essentially, I wanted to tell the viewer a story and make them think.

My name is Mikey Camarda, I am based in Hollywood and focus on digital art. In January, I was featured at the Mac Miller Circles Album Release at the D.O.M. Gallery, hosted by Warner Music Group. I was fortunate enough to know my work reached New York, Pittsburgh, Australia, and LA, of course. Music artists, sports, and movie characters inspire me, so that is my main focus.
