About The Artwork

When you are in love you have passion for someone else but especially in the beginning of your crush you don't know if it will be reciprocated. As long as you don't know if your beloved feels the same as you do you are stuck with a lonely passion and that feels terrible. This is what I want to portray with this work. You see a young woman, neatly made up, at a window in which several reflections can be seen. Her face can be seen partially behind a reflection. This reflection of a roof, seen through a window, is the representation of the outside world from which she has shut herself out. The young woman senses that behind her is the reflection of her lover and she looks back with suspicion. She is clearly uncertain. The raindrops on the glass of the window indicate that she is sad, but the drops are clearly drying up. Is her passion, her ardor going to be answered? That is the question she would so like to see answered. This work was created using various techniques and intended to be printed in an open edition on various materials and sizes. I always make my own proofs in my studio on ordinary paper and a limited edition on high-quality art print paper. This limited edition depicts for me what I had in mind, these prints are the only copies dated and signed. Printed on Fine Art paper, Hahnemühle Bamboo 290 gsm · 90% bamboo fibres · 10% cotton · natural white, image size 40x40cm + 5 cm of white margin for easier framing. Dated and signed in the white margin. For different sizes and materials please contact on: jan.keteleer@janke.be

From his interests in both classical art and modern / contemporary art, Belgian artist Jan Keteleer (JanKé) works with different styles. Ancient art is one of his interests, but you can also find examples of his work in pop art and impressionism. If you browse through Jan Keteleer's portfolio, you will find beautiful nature scenes, pictures of animals or pop art-based nudes. After years working in commercial photography, he turned his interest to artistic black and white photography. Projects such as Speecless, Silent Dialogues and Roots with Taboo brought him fame. He was inspired by the problems of the multicultural society in Belgium, the coexistence of different national and ethnic groups, the issue of the language barrier and the lack of dialogue between the "old" (the native population) and the "new" Belgians (the immigrants). JanKé attaches great importance to the social significance of his works and integrates them into the context of public space (stations, airports and public transport), prompting the viewer to react and reflect. His projects have received the support of the organization Sprakeloos, which aims to use art to provoke discussion on social issues. He had numerous exhibitions in Belgium (in Antwerp, Bruges, Lier, Leuven and Ghent), in the U.S. (in Dallas and San Francisco) and in Poland (in Krakow).
