About The Artwork

To be centered on one’s own vision of the world, one forgets those of others... and living together is impossible. The stork, under his innocent looks, gives a beautiful lesson to the cunning but selfish and greedy fox. This painting is part of my work on the universality of references to nature in the cultures of humans. Mankind refers to animals both among people close to nature (Amerindians...) and among those who had already begun to move away (such as princes and courtiers of the European royal courts of the 17th century ). Nowadays, our cities and their inhabitants have become even more isolated from nature ... The fables of Jean de Lafontaine continue to reflect the flaws of humans in our time. Just as the arts of the first peoples speak to everyone through our common humanity. This series pays tribute to the Native American art of the peoples of British Columbia - The Salish in particular- and also to Jean de Lafontaine. The personal fusion of his two wisdoms into freely inspired drawings aims in a quest for the quintessence of the human.
