"The Survivors" was inspired by the isolating year of the pandemic lockdowns. Like many people I re-discovered an affinity with nature and especially the forests. I have created a series of work based upon the atmosphere and magic of the woodland. It had never felt so obvious that the past few hundred years of global industrialisation and urban living has effectively made us forget where we came from. This image is about the bigger picture. It was a toss-up as to whether I called this "The Bigger Picture" or "The Survivors". The image represents the realisation that as our understanding increases about the planets prehistoric past, that throughout the millennia of time the true survivors are the Raptors. The Carnivore Birds. They have been on the planet far, far, longer than Humans have. There is a limited edition of one. This refers to the original work. The image was created using traditional methods combined with various digital techniques and rendering. The canvas is then finished off by hand. It is an original signed work. To make the shipping shape easier to pack, the canvas frame comes without hanging furniture. The print options are unlimited reproduction of the original.

( ) Born into suburban Birmingham, Andy Joynes leaned naturally towards art from an early age. He won two national competitions with his art as a teenager, and was offered a place at Bournville School of Art and Crafts, and creativity has been a part of his life ever since. While creating and exhibiting art images in a variety of mixed media, he also gained experience in Stage set design, Corporate Interior Design, promotional design for various large department stores, and furniture design. His contemporary work is created using mixed media and digital technology. With an enthusiasm to use art as a means to express ideas, his works are an eclectic mix of real and surreal, with the abiding themes asking questions about time and space, and the human condition and existence within them, providing a wide range of ideas and questions that motivate him to create.
