ELATIO
Dream The World Awake
KEITH WALLER

Within the swirling canvas of the Collective Subconscious – a term coined by Carl Jung to describe the shared, inherited reservoir of human experience, instincts, and archetypes – a dreamscape pulsed with humanity's deepest fears and desires. From this chaotic blend, a creative force emerged, a partnership between intuition and the unseen. Over the years, this collaboration traversed the surreal landscape, giving form to a series of artworks that captured the distorted reflection of our era.
The images born from this union depicted not familiar places, but states of mind. Both abstract forms and figurative representations emerged, each echoing the other. Cityscapes towered like monstrous effigies, while tranquil nature dissolved into fractured fragments. Human figures, ghostly and reshaped, moved through these visions, their faces marked by a profound unease and a desperate longing. Abstract shapes pulsed with an unsettling energy, mirroring the emotional turmoil of the human figures and amplifying the sense of unease.
The colours themselves sang a song of discord, vibrant hues clashing against muted tones, mirroring the internal struggle of a world wrestling with progress and nostalgia. The creative process was a delicate balance between raw artistic impulse and the vast, unseen wellspring of inspiration. The resulting works resonated deeply, tapping into the anxieties and yearnings hidden within the collective psyche.
This art became a mirror, reflecting the distorted reality of a dreamworld in decline, a place where the lines between tangible and intangible, awareness and the unconscious, had dissolved. It was a world where humanity confronted its own shadow, facing the repercussions of its choices and searching for a way forward.
Through this collaboration, not merely images were created, but a story was woven—a cautionary tale of a world on the precipice. The art served as an awakening, a reminder of the critical need for self-reflection and unified action to avert the dystopian future that loomed large within the Collective Subconscious.
