ABOUT THE ARTWORK

"Urban Kneeling" is the first artwork in the "Marks & Graffiti" series, that is to say the first work to integrate a tag or graffiti into the dressing of the model who posed. The result is quite raw, this kneeling of the female model being covered with an urban material typical of abandoned squats with no real artistic vocation. This painting is made in mixed technique on canvas. It combines photography, digital art and acrylic painting, with a dozen layers of glaze and raised squares that bring vibration to the surface of the glossy canvas. This is a unique piece, it comes with a certificate of authenticity. The painting is framed in black (total dimensions: approx. 36 x 26 x 3.5 cm).

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 80 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
