New Media: Digital on Paper.
In this series of pictures, I'm exploring the ways that colors and images can create and hold ideas - stories, memories and thoughts. Viewers are invited to associate a particular idea with the image, which they can then bring to mind each time they interact with the image - whether it's through a focused time of contemplation or a momentary ping of acknowledgement of the idea when they catch a glimpse of the image.
Inspired by: Richard Tuttle, David Hockney, Anne Truitt, James Turrell, Richard Serra, Ellsworth Kelly and so many more...
I make digital art by painting and manipulating images with my fingers on a touch screen with the same app David Hockney has been using for his digital imagemaking. I love that direct, tactile connection with the work - touchscreens bridge traditional physical art making with digital, deliberately leaving evidence of human touch.
