Vincent van Volkmer, born 03.10.1933 in Los Angeles is an american artist (painter), mathematician and a bonsai-tree-master. He raised in New York as a son of an upper class family. In 1950 he became friend with Jackson Pollock. Later he has study art and mathematics in West Germany. He was in the class of Prof. Otto Pankok at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and friend with Günther Uecker. 1963 he traveled with Frank Stella and Henri Goldzahler to Persia. His journey lead him after Persia to Irak, Egypt, Turkey and India. In 1968 he wrote the book "The Tears of the Solar deity" which was published in India. 1976 Vincent van Volkmer shared a flat with David Bowie in Berlin and became a friend with the german artist A. R. Penck. Later they moved together to Irland where Volkmer started to work on a new book. 1988-1995 van Volkmer worked for the US government in the coordination of an network between the west and the east. 1995 he went to Japan to become a bonsai-tree-master. Fifteen years later in 2010 he left Japan and went to Germany, where he still lives and works.
