Als beeldend kunstenaar kan je niet anders dan gestalte geven aan je eigen werkelijkheid en dit vanuit een historisch perspectief - waarbij je schatplichtig bent aan het verleden. De middelen die je hiervoor hebt zijn slechts een lijn, een streep, een vlek. En later nog kleur. Ogenschijnlijk een beperkt aanbod maar met een schier oneindig aantal mogelijkheden. Het is dan ook eerder logisch dat vorm en inhoud sterk kunnen verschillen van moment tot moment. Hoe arm immers is de artiest die slechts zichzelf kan herhalen in eenzelfde stijl en vorm. Wat je raakt, wat je streelt, wat je schokt, wat je bemint kan niet anders dan weergegeven worden: dan is het kunst om de juiste techniek, de goede vorm en de geschikte drager te vinden opdat die ervaren werkelijkheid weergegeven kan worden.
