About The Artwork
Oil on medium textured oil primed linen, was begun outside during the forsythia's blooming time. After several sessions in plein air, the piece was worked on in the studio and then brought out again for further work. The mark making is based on fairly rough layers (only a painting knife and oil sticks were used) overlaid to give depth to the colors.
