About The Artwork

This Circle Circle painting is made of circles drawn at 1/2 inch in diameter. I feel like there is much to explore using the circle as a basic form. A circle has many meanings and can mean different things to different people. It has the universal meaning of 'unity' and is both masculine and feminine. A circle is perfect, but trying to draw one by hand is difficult. This image celebrates diversity and imperfection, permanence and dynamism. This painting is a turning point in the series. Something about the layering of the paint suggested I needed focus in on 'color'. A grid is hand-drawn on professional cold-pressed French watercolor paper. All drafted lines are visible. The circles are hand-drawn in graphite and painted in watercolor. I recommend a white frame with no matting.
