A Bigger Bloom Painting

I was intrigued by the simplicity of the archetype of a flower. Actually it is a shape created just by nature with the main purpose to seduce. My background as a sculptor made me search for a new technique by making a direct movement with my tools. And led me to make simple powerful flower shapes. So in this case my block of marble is the white canvas. 'Jørgen’s simple approach to marble as a stone sculptor translated into works on canvas. He uses a simple direct technique by applying the paint with a single stroke without using a brush on the canvas. With a continious movement he leaves traces of thin layers of paint which creates a remarkable 3d effect. The transparancy of the paint layers resembles to fragile flower shapes.' -Silke Toenshoff-
