About The Artwork

The instant connection a child can make with small animals are magical and as real. I witnessed it when my daughter was just 4. We lived in Tokyo. there was a trendy pet shop near our home in Roppongi. We were walking from her pre-school when Isabelle spotted the prettiest little kitten with the bluest eyes ever. Like a magnetic attraction, she was drawn to the window that showcased this rare Persian beauty. It was priced $10,000. I told her that we cannot afford the kitten. She lingered quietly. The next day, she wanted to go see the kitten again. It was still there and not yet sold. She placed her little hand to the glass and pressed as if longing to touch the kitten. The kitten made a direct eye contact and came over, placing its little paw on the glass in attempt to touch her. In that touching moment, as if muttering to her little self, Isabelle quietly said something profound and precocious. "I just want him to have a good life." True story. I cried.
