‘STEPPER’ is an artist duo composed of siblings Jaechi and Yull. Combining Jaechi’s free-spirited nature, honed through their fine arts education, with Yull’s painterly perspective from their film studies, they create captivating visual works. Their collaborative efforts blend their individual styles into paintings and personal projects, utilizing various techniques such as silkscreen printing and digital drawing to present their unique world on canvas. Our inspiration comes from everyday emotions and thoughts that anyone can experience. Rather than making something already special even more so, we find joy in making the ordinary extraordinary. We believe that the beauty of expressive arts lies in imbuing new value into everyday phenomena. In an era where images are no longer rare, we aspire to convey the thoughtfulness behind our works rather than simply chasing dazzling imagery. Our process begins with identifying everyday stories that can easily be overlooked. We carefully observe and record these emotions and situations, then review them as if flipping through a journal. The new sensations created at the intersections of these recorded emotions and situations are transformed into structured forms through various art mediums. Through this process, we breathe life into our stories. Using symbolism, deconstruction, and combination, we take on the roles of both creators and observers in filling the frame.
