About The Artwork
This piece reflects my ongoing interest in creating figurative paintings pulled out of the abstract markings of the underpainting, which is here a monotype on fine printmaking paper. I isolate the monotype with a sizing before I come back with oil paint that start a subconscious dialogue with the expressive marks. The resulting expressive symbolism speaks a powerful beauty.
