A trip to Monet's garden is etched in my memory, the blooms of many colours to be revealed on its meandering paths, the picture-perfect settings for each glance one takes. I explored a mood of lovely summer innocence in this airy piece, filled with light and shade, a perfect balance of duality that holds it all together. I used calcium carbonate for gesso, as I wanted to express the idea of the wall that isolates the magical garden from an external world - a perfect getaway for the senses, an escape from mundane reality. This texture is used sparingly on canvas and more so on the sides of the painting. The colour extends to the sides. Ready to hang.
