ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The inspiration for this painting is all around us This painting is meant to give the feeling of wet rainy pavement in a large city and a single person standing under an umbrella, after a raid storm. Standing there trying to decide where to go in the city. I have always found large cities interesting because of all there different looks and shapes. I do admit this is kind of a cold picture, at least that is the feeling I get from it. I spent several months developing this painting. But what came out is more of a lonely picture than I thought it would be. I still like the concept.

. Just in case you are wondering, the cat in the photo is a part Main Coon cat, less than one year old kitten, name Chester, he loves to be a little explorer, gets into everything. He is my good friend. Likes to sit and watch me paint. I now paint mostly with acrylics and I like to paint on canvases that are medium size. That can fit nicely in a hall way or living room to add some color and interest to a dull area. Color, as you can see by my paintings is a very important element to me. I like to expand ideas by playing with the colors in the painting. I will paint over a color if I don't think it works, and I spend a great deal of time planning each piece. I am painting or drawing mostly the time but many of my paintings are not finish works for several weeks. I started painting at a very early age. I can be reach also with a email. I live and paint in Fort Collins, Colorado near the mountains. I like this area to live in because it makes a great place to come up with ideas. I started drawing and painting at an early age but when I was in high school in the late 1960's that is when I really started painting with enamels and oil paints then. While I was in college I became interested in art and geometric drawing's. Then I realize I could paint in a more " Geometric Abstraction" way. I learn about a Artis name Theo Van Doesburg who in 1917 did a painting called the "Card Players" which is a early Geo-Abstaaction. So I put more of an efford towards painting in that style. After college I tried to sell my some of my paintings', but I soon found out how hard that was. So I put my art away for a while. I came back to painting again after I retired. I love to paint which now I am finally able to do. I like to mix up different styles of abstract with impression, but I almost always fall back into painting Geo. Abstraction. Many of my ideas for paintings come from my years spent in working in manufacturing jobs. I am in my 70's now, and I plan to keep painting until I run out of ideas or time. I really only show my paintings on Saatchi and to friends. Anyway I hope you like what you see and might like to collect some of my works . Thanks for looking.
