ADVENT Painting

I began this piece in the prophetic style (abstract) choosing the colours and applying them in what some might call a random fashion but which I prefer to call a inspired fashion. I do this to allow the river of creativity within me to flow out like a river of living water. Stepping back from the canvas I next, look to see which emerging elements of the piece stand out as having a particular form or meaning. What I see is shaped by what I believe, what I treasure in my heart. Painting this way is an exciting journey. I am always amazed when the penny drops and I “see” what it is that is taking shape. I love the subtlety of Advent. The lone figure on the bottom left is to me is someone who has set their heart on pilgrimage. It could be interpreted in the context of the historical bibical events or more interestingly as the conjunction of place and time when the pilgrim is within sight of his goal.
