Piera Dei Svaldi was born in 1966 in Lecco (Como Lake – Italy). She graduated from the Art School in 1984. In 1987 she reached the specialization in Fashion Designer. The work experience was initially formed in fashion, from 1987 in contact with great photographers, as a fashion designer for the newspapers Moda, Elle, Vogue, Grazia, Io Donna, Sette of Corriere della Sera, Sportswear International and private companies with advertising campaigns. The work experience alongside the great interpreters of photography of the 80s and 90s has developed a passion for portraits, light effects, contrasts, chiaroscuro. In 1995, her curiosity towards the world of design led her to join the Compagnia dei Giardini company in Milan for which she managed purchases, design and production of furniture, public relations with the press, interior design of the exhibition spaces. In 2008 the move to Livorno in Tuscany and the meeting with local masters Luca Bellandi and Riccardo Ruberti brought her back to the passion that occupied her days since she was a child and that has always allowed her to get in touch with her deepest and most creative part. She is a figurative painter. She paints expressions and faces that can convey feelings and sensations. Through her works she aims to open a window on the moods of the female and male world in the contemporary times. She love to witness a cross-section of the ambiguities and personal doubts of contemporary society. She likes to create overlaps of materials, through the use of different technics. She feels the need to use different tools, sometimes the body of the color given by the palette knife, sometimes the lightness and transparency and transience of the brush and watercolor colors.
