Łukasz Kula „Asensir”- Polish painter (b. 1997), working within surrealism and magical realism. He operates under both his real name and the pseudonym, keeping the focus on the work itself. “Asensir” has been an integral part of his practice from the beginning - not as a mask, but as a consciously constructed space where the image can exist without competing with its author. His paintings are a glimpse into a world of dreams, emotions, and places suspended between what is real and what is only sensed. He does not paint to replicate reality, but to deconstruct it, filter it through experience, and reassemble it in a new form. As he notes: “Surrealists are often seen as madmen, dreamers. But in such a chaotic reality as the one we live in, isn’t relying solely on rationality and logic a kind of madness in itself?” In his work, he explores themes of time, perception, decision-making, and inner states, building symbolic spaces where reality shifts and the boundaries between the real and the imagined begin to blur. He draws inspiration from psychology and from observing people and their relationships - both with others and with themselves - as well as from what lies beneath the surface of everyday life. There is always space left within his works - not as emptiness, but as a place where something can happen on the viewer’s side. Sometimes it is an immediate association, sometimes something that reveals itself over time. He is particularly interested in the moment when the viewer stops merely looking and begins to “read” the image in their own way. He works at his own pace - at times intensely, at times in silence. He does not treat art as production, but as a process that requires time, focus, and moments of pause. His paintings can be seen as personal maps of psychological states and symbolic landscapes. The artist avoids exposing his image, deliberately directing attention toward the work itself. His presence on the art market is built, among others, through ongoing collaborations with established institutions, and his works are held in private collections across Poland as well as internationally, including the United States, Japan, South Africa, Germany, Spain, France, and Israel. . PAINTING SERIES “Time” series In the “Time” series, the artist explores the nature of time - its complexity, its illusory quality, and its influence on the way we perceive reality.
