About The Artwork
Lowther Castle lies to the north of the English Lake District near the town of Penrith.The current building is a castellated mansion built by Robert Smirke for William Lowther, 1st Earl of Lonsdale between 1806 and 1814. The gardens of Lowther Castle were abandoned in 1935. This door to the gardens is currently unused and was greatly overgrown when I visited it. Contemporary watercolour on 300gsm 100% cotton hot pressed paper. The 14 inches x 10 inches paper is surrounded with a 16inch x 12inch picture mount in Vanilla, framed in an 18 inches x 14 inches Bronze and Gold Flat Taeda Pine Picture Frame
