Victoria Rechsteiner

About the Artist

Victoria Rechsteiner

Switzerland

Victoria Rechsteiner is a Swiss contemporary landscape painter whose work explores the relationship between direct observation, memory and the evolving visual language of the Alpine landscape.

Working primarily in soft pastel and oil, she develops her paintings through extensive plein air practice, returning repeatedly to the same places in different seasons and under changing atmospheric conditions. Rather than documenting nature, her work investigates how light, colour and space shape our experience of the landscape.

A central aspect of her artistic practice is the exploration of locations that have inspired landscape painters across different generations. By revisiting these places today, she creates a dialogue between historical perspectives and contemporary observation, revealing how the same landscape continues to transform through changing light, atmosphere and human perception.

Her paintings are characterised by quiet compositions, subtle colour relationships and a strong sense of atmosphere. They explore silent landscapes, rural life and the balance between structure and spontaneity, combining the tradition of Swiss Alpine painting with a contemporary visual language.

As Board Member of the Guild of Swiss Mountain Painters (GSBM), she actively contributes to exhibitions, plein air projects and the promotion of contemporary Alpine landscape painting.
Her works are held in private collections in Switzerland, Europe and the United States and are featured in the digital collections of the Samsung Art Store (The Frame TV) and LG Art Gallery.
Every artwork is unique, created with care in my studio near Zurich, signed on the reverse, and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
