Art Description

Painting: Oil on Canvas, Wood.

Based on meditation of the human figure without the identity of a body. When humans say "I" they have an innate belief that "I" refers to themselves as a body, but what is the "I" without the body? This brushstrokes dissimilate the human form into a dark cloud that that shares qualities of the atmosphere around it. This form lacks static definition while mirroring the figure to question who the human is.

The painting is made up with a layer of wax medium to provide translucence in the atmosphere as well as a thick matte body to the 'cloud'. On top of this wax layer there are nicely contrasted gloss and colored brush strokes. The Various colors of black create depth and discovery for viewers, and there are small and subtle flares of bright colors that shoot out from behind the black.
