About The Artwork
The natural movement and qualities of paint entrance me. We often try and control paint rather too much and allowing it to have a say in the painting, can result in some interesting shapes emerging. As "Acaer" was developing, it became clear that this was a forest of some sorts. Slowly the trees and birds appeared. Red has become an increasingly important colour in my palette in recent years and I relish how versatile it is and how soft it can look.

Over time I have noticed that regardless of imagery, my work naturally holds feelings of melancholy, pathos, or a dreamy state. There is a sense of something ending or softening, a dying light, the end of a summers day or something slipping out of reach. I have an interest in finding imagery through a random, sometimes destructive process. I search for hints and suggestions which emerge through this often playful technique.
