Growing up in the Czech Republic, I was greatly affected by the artistic culture of Central Europe. Inspired by the curving lines and striking figures of Alphonse Mucha’s illustrations, as well as František Kupka’s abstract works. I inherited a passion for feminine beauty complemented by thoughtful design. Upon moving to Chicago, I applied this passion to my burgeoning artistic practice, cultivating my skills as a painter, photographer, and graphic designer. Working in a variety of media, I developed a unique understanding of the principles of art and design, for as I honed my craft in one medium, I found new ways to think about the others. Thus, although my large, exuberant paintings are distinct from my photography and design work, they remain inextricably linked to my multi-disciplinary practice, reflecting my specific interests as a painter as well as my broader artistic inclinations. My creative process is drawing from my background in the graphic design industry. Most resent works incorporate simplify human forms, nudes, and images from art history. Schematically reduced human figures are juxtaposed with organic gestural brushwork that engaging elements of modernism in a variety of emotional roles. My works has been exhibited in New York, Miami and Chicago.
