ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This painting is on canvas cloth which I create using a slurry of cement troweled onto canvas. I adhere this cloth to a panel providing a strong, nuanced, textured base on which I paint many layers, sand into and paint more. "Adrift" is a series of paintings I started after the passing of my parents - they reflect a state of contemplation, stillness - a pause in this journey we are all on.

I received a BFA in Sculpture from San Francisco Art Institute in 1973. In the 80’s I immersed myself in the L.A. Woman’s Building, participating in performance, installation, and public art. At the age of 45 I moved to Michigan with a young family where, 25 years later, I paint, create altars, and installations in my studio which includes the 12 acres of woods that surround my home.
