ABOUT THE ARTWORK
My photos of swirling koi fish in Taipei and Maui inspired this work. I enjoy a mixture of textures, surfaces, and subjects. The pool or sky that the koi swim/fly in is built up with layers of flat acrylic, silver leaf and impasto oil paint. The koi move in formation reminiscent of fighter jets. They are delicate, yet strong. The canvas is painted on all edges. No need to frame. This piece is wired and ready to hang with a single nail.
