Ekaterina Filiuta is a contemporary Belarusian artist who works in easel painting and graphics arts in the still life and portrait genres. At the beginning of her artistic career, she proved herself to be a master of decorative and applied art. She later took up painting and drawing, where she created her own embossed drawing technique. Her acrylic works, and in particular her still lifes, betray a passion for post-impressionism. By opting to depict objects in the most stylized way possible and to use open colors, the artist has managed to emphasize the boundaries of her shapes through use of other devices besides dark contours. Rather, she also uses decorative elements, which allow her to boldly experiment with materials and textures. Ekaterina's surroundings largely influenced the development of her extraordinary creative personality, and in particular she benefited from the lessons of her father, the famous teacher and unsurpassed master of drawing Oleg Lutzevich. Ekaterina Filiuta has been able to express her special vision and spatial thinking in monochrome watercolors. The artist is able to create nudes and portraits without a clearly defined background using quick, light line strokes. Ekaterina Filiuta has a passion for collecting antique furnishings, and she is constantly searching for unusual and extravagant things from the past. This passion has helped her to create her own unique world that is thoroughly permeated by the past.
