About The Artwork
This stunning painting of an African Leopard lounging in an acacia tree was based on a leopard spotted whilst on safari trip in 1999. The female leopard I saw was perched in a tree, as they like to do, in Mikumi National Park in Tanzania. I was working as a teacher in Rwanda at the time, and have always been amazed by the power and majesty of big cats. I took some photos and did a few paintings, then decided to do a close up as part of a series of paintings of endangered animals. Any proceeds of this will go towards WWF and Ol Pejata sanctuary.
