Art Description

Painting: Acrylic, oil on Canvas.

Alex Jowett's Horizon Line series were born out of Immanuel Kant's 'Critique of Pure Reason' and his discussions on the line. Equal parts philosophical discussion and aesthetic expression this large scale painting allows the viewer to bring their own experience to the art. We see based upon past experience not simply by viewing that which is in front of us.
This particular piece is about the moment immediately after lightning strikes over the ocean, when the flash can be felt but is already fading.
