ABOUT THE ARTWORK
"Ajourements I" is a very particular painting where the character is ghostly, disappearing behind a lace which follows the contours of the body but seems to hollow out what is below. What dominates here is the feeling of lightness, of evanescence. Absence of presence, presence of absence, the figure is both there and not there, visible and invisible. This painting is a unique piece made in mixed technique on canvas and combines photography, digital composition and acrylic painting (many layers of transparent glaze and raised square). The painting is framed in black wood (total dimensions: approximately 76 x 46 x 3.5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 80 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
