About The Artwork

Completed in 1928, the art deco Alfred E. Smith Building was once the tallest building between New York City and Chicago. Having made many appearances in my paintings over the years, Albany's quintessential skyscraper is by far the most prominent in this composition.

I'm an architectural artist who explores the mood and sense of place that old buildings create within our lives. My paintings celebrate the visually absorbing shapes, colors, textures and eccentric details of the urban landscape. I've developed a completely original technique of using precise ink images with acrylic tones painted over each other, resembling thin semi-opaque layers. I'm also an avid photographer of vintage architectural elements - signs, statues, facades, subway mosaics and stained glass windows. I've recently begun to exhibit my photographs along with my paintings.
