About The Artwork
My painting features a 1930s scene of the Albany Riverfront. In the foreground are vintage wooden boats docked at the Albany Yacht Club. In the background is a New York Central train crossing the Hudson and the tower of the Delaware and Hudson Building. The tower is capped with a weathervane depicting Henry Hudson's ship the Half Moon. I created the painting from a series of 1930 black and white photographs. I added many details that were not in the photos, such as the tower and the train. I researched the New York Central passenger train styles from the 1930s. The lighting, sky and many other details were created from imagination.

I'm an architectural artist who explores the mood and sense of place that old buildings create within our lives. My paintings celebrate the visually absorbing shapes, colors, textures and eccentric details of the urban landscape. I've developed a completely original technique of using precise ink images with acrylic tones painted over each other, resembling thin semi-opaque layers. I'm also an avid photographer of vintage architectural elements - signs, statues, facades, subway mosaics and stained glass windows.
