All Is Not Lost Painting

This resin painting depicts bioluminescence in the ocean as seen from above whilst flying over the tropical seas in the dark of the night. Bioluminescence is used by creatures in the ocean during specific lunar cycles. The inks and pigments shift with the changing of the light throughout the day. The sense of depth and dimension is impossible to capture fully in a photograph. Kimberley hopes that the viewer is left with a sense of calm, slowing down their thoughts, and existing in the moment the way she does whilst painting in her studio. Although the artist’s intention is that this piece represents bioluminescence in the ocean, viewers have also provided feedback that it reminds them of an endless galaxy, or a whales back disappearing beneath dark seas. This painting was part of Kimberley’s solo show, Finding Depth at Argyle Fine Art Gallery, Halifax, NS. The painting continues along edges. The piece is professionally finished, and wired.
