ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This painting I started with raw umber in the foreground. I wanted to make the foreground about texture and slowly work with less texture to the top. The sky sort of accidentally was created as often happens in my paintings, by using thinned acrylics, spraying and wiping it of again. The scenery is familiar for many people and everyone seems to be reminded of a place when seeing this painting. That is what I would like to achieve with all my paintings. The painting radiates a yellowish light and for that reason many reactions to this painting involves mentioning William Turner, which makes me feel very honored.
