Alternate Paths is a painting I did for a show that featured all women. We were all from different backgrounds and at different places in our career. Some of us were self taught. Some had never done a show. Some were married. Divorced. Children. No children. Never married. I thought about the alternate paths we had all taken to get there. We chose red as a the color that would bring all of our work together. Title: Alternate Paths Size: 24 x 24 x 2 the staple free sides are painted red. This canvas is back stapled. And it is wired and ready to hang. Medium: Acrylics Date: 2012 I am primarily self taught. I started painting while recovering from a back injury in 1995. I am a retired flight attendant. And I was injured during turbulence. I was off for a year and I wasn’t sure I would ever be able to return to work. My doctor suggested I paint as a form of therapy. I started my art career as a fashion illustrator. It never really occurred to me to paint. My work can be found in private collections around the world. Feel free to contact me with questions.

Although I have drawn most of my life no one seemed to notice until I started to paint. I was off work for a year with a back injury and I started painting as a form of therapy. Painting gave me a sense of peace at a very difficult time. After ten years of painting and selling my work, I took my first painting class in 2005. My work can be found in private collections around the world. Visit my website at http://www.bettyandroserefour.com for locations to find my work. My inspiration comes from a variety of sources. It could be a piece of fabric, a structure, or a sunrise. The possibilities are endless. I am the caregiver for my sister Rose who has autism and is also an artist.
