About The Artwork
Birds have crept into my work over the past several years and when the pandemic began I started paying closer attention to them as they inhabited more of my visual landscape. I was spending more time at home and in the country and was intrigued by the fact that life was going on for them, so they have become more prevalent in my visual constructions. They are constructions as I do not work from observation, rather a memory of interactions that explores patterns, textures, and movement. There is a hanging wire attached to the work and it is surrounded by a floating wooden frame that I am happy to provide more detailed photos of. The surface is smooth and rich with great variance of spacial illusion.

I received a B.F.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, an M.A. in Painting from the University of Wyoming and an M.F.A. in Art and Design from the University of Illinois. I have lived and regularly exhibited in the Houston area for the last twenty plus years. My work has been exhibited across Texas in venues such as the Arlington Museum of Art, Cardozier Gallery at the University of Texas Permian Basin, Blue Star Contemporary Arts Center, Old Fort Russell Building in Marfa and the Jones Center for the Arts in Austin. Nationally, I have shown in venues such as I-Space Chicago, the Kauffman Gallery in Pennsylvania, RPS Gallery in Asbury Park, New Jersey, Shift Gallery in Seattle and the Krannert Art Museum in Illinois. In addition, I have participated in exhibitions at the Museo de Arte Moderno in Trujillo, Peru, MadisMad Gallery in Madrid, Spain and Muse Gallery in Hyderabad, India. My work is represented in numerous publications and both public and private collections throughout the U.S.
