Yet it does not seem to me to be an abstract work: it does not derive from or distill anything besides itself. It's not a "composition" or an "untitled". It is what it is. And so it has a name, which may or may not resonate with others. The painting came first, the name came after, and the name honors the painting as unique and specific. The edges are finished so the painting does not require framing. The piece will arrive wired and ready to hang.
