This is a large abstract painting, painted on a deep canvas, which has a cross bar at the back for support. I love the strength of this painting. I wanted to make a large atmospheric piece, that balanced lightness and hope, with darkness and drama, in the same piece. It has a strong flow with the dark blue shape that cuts through the painting, creating momentum and energy. There is a range of subtle nuances within the light tones, which gives a feeling of light dancing across the painting. I feel all my work is about the emotion the viewer feels from their interaction with it. The weight of this painting feels very emotive to me. The dark colours have a power and presence, but are given lightness, and are held but the pale softness around them. I hope you are uplifted by this painting.

"I believe that visual language has a potent power, like music or literature. And it has the power to lift, communicate and transform. Using pattern and mark to create rhythm, I use a range of materials; paint, pencil, fabric, collage, metallics, and build up my paintings in a very organic way. I overlay layers of paint, mark and collage to build up the pictorial space. This creates glimpses, hidden spaces, things half_ shown, suggested. I use delicate layers of texture, drawing and colour to create an ambiguous space. The image is then worked and re_worked until the image is “found”. Only when a balance and integration is achieved I feel that the painting is finished. I like to think of them as “visual poems”. This sensual world is one to be absorbed, felt, and enjoyed. "
